More flexible regulations from 2017 Tips for more pension.

The new Flexi-Renten-Gesetz has been in force in Germany since the beginning of the year. It is intended to make the transition from working life into retirement more flexible than before. With the new rules, pensioners can make more money on their account. The Stiftung Warentest has looked at the law.

More pension in old age – the new Flexi-Renten-Gesetz offers extended possibilities. In the future, for example, whoever wants to do so can make more special payments in addition to the compulsory contributions in order to compensate for a reduction in premiums due in the case of an early retirement, says retiree Max Schmutzer from Stiftung Warentest.

“If I plan, I do not want to work until the full retirement age – that is to say, until the age of 67 – then I can retire earlier, provided I have enough years of contributions together, for example, 63. Then I get pension deductions.

However, I can compensate for these annuities. Then I ask a question with the pension insurance – how much would it cost to offset these annuities? And then, starting at the age of 50, I can begin to balance these discounts with voluntary contributions. ”

Special payments can begin earlier

If you want to compensate for annuities by means of special payments, you must still be at least 55 years old, starting in July you can begin earlier. Special payments are already possible at 50 years. Those who are younger may still be able to pay contributions for periods of school and university education. This is possible until the 45th birthday – and these special payments also increase the later pension – even if the Deutsche Rentenversicherung itself usually does not point to this variant.

Another way to get more money in old age is for all those who want to work longer than their regular retirement income. Warentester Max Schmutzer.

“This is, of course, quite nice, because I then get both my pension and my salary. There is now in the Flexi pension new that I can continue to deposit into the pension insurance The pension is not further increased.

The second option here is that I do not even apply for the pension and just keep working. I then live mainly from my salary and then retire later. The advantage: My pension increases, so to speak, double: On the one hand, I continue to pay and on the other hand, my entire pension increases by every additional year because I retire later. That can be worthwhile. ”

To the past

In general, if you have 45 years of contributions together, you can retire at the age of 63 without any discounts. If you want to make a profit, you can do this. So far, however, there have been quite complicated regulations on the pension – which will be simplified as from July:

“It is now possible to add up to 6,300 euros to the pension, without it being calculated, which means that, for example, all minijobs – many retirees are working in such a way – are free of charges So I am fully paid for my pension, and all that is earned beyond that is accounted for 40 per cent on the pension. ”

Higher additions, according to Warentester Max Schmutzer, would therefore usually not be worthwhile.
